Dans la seconde moitié du XIVe et au XVe siècle, ce mot, comme schloss, désigne une ville forte (geslozz Ettenheim & Markolsheim 1394 : UBS VI 526 no 876) ou gesloss Kienzheim & Ammerschwihr 1411 : RUB III 51 no 44. Plus tard, au XVe siècle, il peut aussi désigner un château : gslozz Hohnack & Judenburg 1454 (RUB IV 181-82 no 492) ou gesloss und stat Tanne, gsloß zu Lanzer 1469 (ZGO, 47, 1893, 647). Le mot disparaît après le XVe siècle.
